Quick Start Guide
Put it on
Wear Tigress on the wrist of your dominant hand with the latch oriented as close to the heel of your hand as possible. Keep the band snug so that Tigress does not move around loosely.
Practice with the practice blade
- Tigress is packaged with an orange non-cutting practice blade. If you intend to wear Tigress for self-defense, you must practice and get comfortable opening and using it with a partner for simulated attacks. See our videos here for the steps below. It’s easy! Undock and deployment takes < 1 second.
- Undock: Release Tigress from its holder by tripping the latch toward your palm. The latch can be opened with the opposite hand, spiderman style with a finger from the wrist, or dragged across your leg or any other rough surface. Tigress will spring toward your hand, but the blade will not open until the large circular button is pressed.
- Deploy the blade: Press the button to open the blade and grip the body, handle, and blade linkage firmly. Then grasp it as you would a knife. If the tether is too short, see Changing Tether Length below. Note: An internal safety device prevents the blade from opening when Tigress is in its holder.
- Close the blade: To close the blade, grasp the outer edges of the round body with your dominant hand, making sure not to depress the release button. Use the thumbnail of your opposite hand to depress the brass lockout button while using your fingertips on the notches near the tip of the blade to urge the blade and linkage into the round body, where it will click into place. Take care not to touch the sharp tip of the blade. Finish by clicking the link knuckle into place. After a few tries, closing the blade will become second nature.
- Redock: To re-dock Tigress into the wrist holder, first make sure the latch of the holder is opened out flat against your wrist. Grasp the closed Tigress by its outer edges and guide the tail of the handle down and back against the back wall of the holder, wiggling it a little if necessary. Gently seat the round body into place. The latch should begin to rise and click into place on its own. Once again, with a little practice, this will become quick and easy.
